Moving to an organic skincare routine can have several benefits for your skin and overall health. Here are some things you can expect:

  1. Fewer chemicals:  They are made from natural ingredients without the use of synthetic chemicals. As a result, you can expect fewer chemicals on your skin, which can help reduce the risk of irritation, allergic reactions, and other skin issues.

  2. Nourishing ingredients: The botanical ingredients are rich in vitamins, minerals, and other nourishing ingredients that can help support healthy skin function. For example, organic oils like Jojoba, Kalahari Melon, and Marula are used, because they are high in antioxidants and can help hydrate and protect the skin.

  3. Improved skin texture: They help improve the texture of your skin by reducing dryness, flakiness, and roughness. This is because organic ingredients can help boost the skin’s natural moisture barrier, which can help keep the skin soft and supple.

  4. Reduced inflammation:  Ingredients, such as Aloe Vera and Chamomile, have anti-inflammatory properties that can help reduce redness and swelling. This can be particularly beneficial for people with sensitive or acne-prone skin.

  5. More eco-friendly: Our essential oils are made using sustainable and eco-friendly practices, which can be better for the environment. The organic farming practices use fewer pesticides and fertilizers, which can reduce the amount of chemical runoff into our waterways.

Overall, moving to a Fontis Organic Skinfood routine can be a great way to support your skin’s health and well-being while also being mindful of the impact on the environment.

Botanical oil serums can actually help regulate the skin’s natural oil production and prevent excess oiliness, as long as you use it in moderation.

When you apply our botanical oil serums to your skin, it can help nourish and hydrate your skin without clogging your pores. This can help balance your skin’s natural oil production and prevent overproduction of oil, which can lead to oily skin. Botanical oils also contain antioxidants and other nutrients that can help protect and repair the skin, improving its overall health and appearance.

In addition, it’s important to use our botanical oil serums in moderation. A little bit goes a long way, and using too much can leave your skin feeling greasy and oily. Start with a small amount and gradually increase as needed, and pay attention to how your skin responds. If you notice any signs of irritation or increased oiliness, you might need to adjust your routine.

Please do not forget to add our internal skin seeding products for your skin as food from the inside improves skinfood from the outside.

Read what Tarryn (early 20s) has to say:

I have been using the incredible Fontis Skinfood Tranquility Nectar for just over a month now. It has honestly been a huge game changer for my skin. I suffer from acne prone skin so I always have to be extremely cautious about what I use on my skin. But this facial serum has cleared up my skin to the point where it is completely clear about 90% of the time, my complexion has drastically improved and just the overall softness of my skin is unbelievable. I would highly recommend this product

Emotions plays a huge role in acne. Emotions form from chemical reactions that come from our belief system. Our emotions are stored in the Limbic system in our brain and it works very well with fragrance. The fragrances in our products are from essential oils it it is known that inhaling essential oils have an impact on your well being. We encourage our clients to focus on inhaling the fragrance of our products in order to experience the benefits to their emotions.

Dr Axe confirms the above as well in his article on Top 7 Essential Oils for Anxiety. Lavender, Chamomile & Frankincense are mentioned amongst the 7 and are all found in our Tranquility Nectar and Tranquility Cream. Here is an excerpt:

‘We process so much information through our sense of smell — in particular, in an area of the brain adjacent to the limbic region, according to “Freedom from Anxiety: A Holistic Approach to Emotional Well-Being” by Marcey Shapiro and Barbara Vivino. This is the area of emotional processing and memory recall.

When the scent of an essential oil is inhaled, molecules enter the nasal cavities and stimulate a firing of mental response in the limbic system of the brain. These stimulants regulate stress or calming responses, such as heart rate, breathing patterns, production of hormones and blood pressure. Aromatherapy can be obtained by using it in a bath, as direct inhalations, hot water vapor, vaporizer or humidifier, fan, vent, perfume, cologne, or diffusers.’

Clients have a positive response to resolving their t-zone by using our Revive Hydro Serum in conjunction with Tranquility Nectar and or Tranquility Pressed Serum.

Here is what Felicity (60s) have to say:

I am 65 years old and I have been using Fontis Tranquility Pressed Serum for about one week now. My skintone has become more even and the very visible pores on my nose are significantly smaller. My skin type is described as t-zone and I don’t notice the shine anymore!

Organic skincare products can be a great option for people with sensitive skin, because they are made from natural ingredients and are free from harsh chemicals that can irritate the skin. However, it’s important to note that some  ingredients may trigger a reaction in sensitive skin.

Here are some tips for using organic products if you have sensitive skin:

  1. Read the ingredient list carefully: Even if a product is labeled “organic” or “natural,” it can still contain ingredients that can irritate sensitive skin. Be sure to read the ingredient list carefully and look out for common irritants like essential oils.

  2. Patch test before using: Before you apply a new organic product all over your face, it’s a good idea to do a patch test first. Apply a small amount of the product to a small area of your skin and wait 24-48 hours to see if you have any reaction. If you experience redness, itching, or other signs of irritation, you may need to avoid that product.

  3. Choose gentle, non-irritating ingredients: Look for organic products that contain gentle, non-irritating ingredients like Aloe Ferox ( found in Revitalise Facial Treatment), Chamomile (found in Tranquility Range and Revitalise Facial Treatment), and Calendula (Tranquility and Exuberance Range). These ingredients can help soothe and calm sensitive skin, reducing the risk of irritation.

  4. Be cautious with exfoliation: Exfoliating can be beneficial for removing dead skin cells and improving skin texture, but it can also be irritating for sensitive skin. If you have sensitive skin, be cautious with exfoliating and choose gentle, non-abrasive exfoliants like Rice Powder (in Glow Powder Cleanser)

  5. Start with a simple routine: If you’re new to using organic skincare products, it’s a good idea to start with a simple routine and gradually introduce new products. This will help you identify any ingredients that may be causing irritation and avoid overwhelming your skin with too many new products at once.

Overall, Fontis Organic Skinfood can be a great option for people with sensitive skin, as long as you choose the right products and use them carefully. By reading ingredient labels, patch testing, and choosing gentle, non-irritating ingredients, you can help keep your sensitive skin happy and healthy.

Natural and botanical skincare products are different from mainstream skincare products in several ways:

  1. Ingredients: Natural and botanical skincare products are typically made with ingredients that are derived from nature, such as plant extracts, essential oils, and botanical oils. Mainstream skincare products, on the other hand, may contain synthetic ingredients, chemicals, and artificial fragrances.

  2. Formulation: Natural and botanical skincare products are often formulated with fewer ingredients and in smaller batches, which can help to maintain the integrity of the ingredients and reduce the risk of irritation or adverse reactions. Mainstream skincare products may contain a higher number of ingredients and be mass-produced, which can increase the risk of adverse reactions and reduce the effectiveness of the product.

  3. Philosophy: Natural and botanical skincare products are often made with a philosophy of promoting overall wellness and health, both for the skin and the body as a whole. Mainstream skincare products may focus more on superficial results, such as reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles or improving skin texture.

  4. Sustainability: We prioritize sustainability and environmentally-friendly practices, such as using recyclable packaging, sourcing ingredients responsibly, and minimizing waste. Mainstream skincare brands may not prioritize these practices as much.

Overall, natural and botanical skincare products tend to be gentler on the skin and promote a more holistic approach to skincare, focusing on nourishing and supporting the skin’s natural functions rather than simply treating specific concerns.

High quality, pure ingredients are a true luxury!

The purest form of organic products are made using ingredients that have been minimally processed and retain their original chemical structure and properties. This can include plant-based ingredients like oils, butters, and waxes that have been extracted using natural methods like cold pressing, which helps to preserve the nutrients and benefits of the original plant.

Natural, on the other hand, means our products are made from ingredients that come from natural sources like plants, minerals, and animal products (Beeswax). While these products may not be certified as organic, they are often free from synthetic chemicals and are formulated to be gentle and non-irritating to the skin.

When choosing organic or natural skincare products, it’s important to read ingredient labels carefully and choose products from our range that are formulated for your specific skin type and concerns. It’s also a good idea to patch test new products before using them all over your face to make sure that they are well-tolerated by your skin.

Yes, it is possible for someone to be allergic to botanical and natural skincare products, just as it is possible to be allergic to synthetic skincare products. Allergic reactions occur when the immune system overreacts to a substance, which can cause symptoms like redness, itching, swelling, and rash.

Many natural and botanical ingredients can cause allergic reactions in some people. For example, some essential oils like Lavender, Sandalwood, Tea Tree, and Peppermint can be irritants for sensitive skin and may cause an allergic reaction in some people. Other common allergens in natural skincare products can include plant extracts, like Chamomile, Aloe Ferox, and Calendula, which can be beneficial for many people but can also cause reactions in those with allergies or sensitivities.

If you have a known allergy to a specific plant or botanical ingredient, it’s important to read ingredient labels carefully and avoid products that contain that ingredient. If you are unsure about whether a product is safe for your skin, it’s always a good idea to do a patch test first to see how your skin reacts. Apply a small amount of the product to a small area of your skin and wait 24-48 hours to see if you experience any redness, itching, or other signs of irritation.

Overall, while natural and botanical skincare products can be a great option for many people, it’s important to be aware of the potential for allergic reactions and to choose products that are well-tolerated by your skin. If you have a history of allergies or sensitivities, it may be best to consult with a dermatologist or allergist to determine which skincare ingredients are safe for you to use.

We use essential oils as our natural fragrances. While many essential oils are considered safe and beneficial for use in natural skincare products, some essential oils can be harmful during pregnancy. Some essential oils have been shown to have uterine stimulating effects and can increase the risk of miscarriage or premature labor like Myrrh. Other essential oils may cause skin irritation or allergic reactions, which can be more common during pregnancy due to changes in hormone levels.

If you are pregnant, it’s important to talk to your healthcare provider before using any skincare products that contain essential oils. Your healthcare provider can help you determine which ingredients are safe for use during pregnancy and which should be avoided.

Some essential oils that are generally considered safe for use during pregnancy include Lavender and Chamomile.

Overall, it’s best to err on the side of caution when using skincare products during pregnancy and to choose products that are formulated specifically for use during pregnancy or that have been approved by your healthcare provider.

We use Frankincense oils in many of our products for its anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, and astringent properties, and  for its ability to promote skin regeneration and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

However, if you are taking blood thinner medication, it’s important to be cautious when using essential oils, including Frankincense oil. Frankincense oils, can have blood-thinning effects, which may increase the risk of bleeding or bruising when used in combination with blood thinner medication.

If you are taking blood thinner medication, it’s important to talk to your healthcare provider before using any essential oils including Frankincense oils. Your healthcare provider can help you determine which products and ingredients are safe for you to use and can provide guidance on how to use them safely.

In general, it’s best to avoid using essential oils or Frankincense oils internally or topically in large quantities when taking blood thinner medication.

Yes, it is used in our Revive Hydro Serum and Revitalise Facial Treatment formulas.

We have opted for a synthetic preservative. Yes we know that the use of synthetic preservatives in natural skincare products is a controversial topic, as some people believe that synthetic preservatives can be harmful to the skin and may have long-term health effects. However, others like us argue that synthetic preservatives are necessary to prevent the growth of bacteria and other harmful microorganisms in our skincare products and to ensure their safety and stability over time.

Natural skincare products are often formulated with natural preservatives, such as vitamin E, rosemary extract, and grapefruit seed extract, which can help to extend the shelf life of the product and prevent spoilage. However, these natural preservatives may not be as effective as synthetic preservatives at preventing the growth of harmful bacteria and other microorganisms.

As a result, we chose to use synthetic preservative, Phenoxyethanol and Ethylhexylglycerin, in our formulations to ensure product safety and stability.

Phenoxyethanol and Ethylhexylglycerin are commonly used as preservatives in skincare products, and are generally considered safe for use in cosmetics in small concentrations.

Phenoxyethanol is a preservative that is effective at preventing the growth of bacteria and other microorganisms in skincare products. While some studies have suggested that phenoxyethanol may be harmful in high concentrations, the levels typically used in cosmetics are generally considered safe.

Ethylhexylglycerin is another preservative that is often used in combination with phenoxyethanol to enhance its efficacy. It has moisturizing and conditioning properties and is generally considered safe for use in cosmetics.

While these ingredients are generally safe for use in cosmetics, some people may be sensitive or allergic to them. If you experience skin irritation or an allergic reaction when using our skincare products that contain phenoxyethanol or ethylhexylglycerin, you should discontinue use and consult a healthcare provider.

Overall, the safety of these ingredients depends on the concentration and formulation of the product, as well as your individual skin sensitivity. If you have concerns about using products that contain these ingredients, you can choose products that are free from phenoxyethanol and ethylhexylglycerin or consult with a dermatologist or healthcare provider for guidance.
